Studying abroad at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milano was more than an educational experience - it was a landmark in my time as a young adult. Cattolica is one of Milan's oldest and most respected Universities - studying amongst its historically rich architecture in the center of Milano was both exhilarating and memorable.

The Duomo, Brera, and Colonne di San Lorenzo gave me the worlds best shopping, amazing food and gelato, and memories with my Italian friends whom I now call my Milanese family.

From my time shared at Cattolica, to my time integrating myself amongst Milanese culture – the eating, the shopping, and Fashion and Design week -- Milano has become my favorite city in the world and a place I can call home.

Studying abroad allows you to feel a connection to a place and culture in no other way traveling the world could allow. I look forward to the day I return and finish the life I started in Milano!

My year in Milan was the most fun and interesting year of my university degree.I really enjoyed studying at UCSC because I learned a lot about Italy through my courses, such as Italian Literature, History of the Italian Language and History of Italian Cinema. Milan is a great city to live in because there is always something to do and I made lifelong friends whose friendship I will cherish forever!

I came back home and realized that the experience I had lived abroad was more than what I had expected when I left.

Studying at UCSC not only allowed me to interact with a completely different culture, it also gave me the opportunity to know people from all over the world, with a different reality to mine, a different way of thinking, and of course, of behaving as well.

When it comes to Italy, on the one hand I consider that it is impossible not to adapt to such an open and friendly Latin culture, and on the other, it’s a MUST for anyone interested in travelling in Europe and in learning about the origins of Western culture.

It was simply AWESOME.

If I’m asked to describe my exchange student life at UCSC in one word, I would say ‘TERRIFIC!’ I’m so proud of myself for having decided to go to Italy, where I had a chance to experience diverse cultures, travel all around beautiful Europe, enjoy ‘buonissimo’ Italian food every day, appreciate high-quality education, and most of all, it gave me the opportunity to meet such warm-hearted Italians and awesome friends from all over the world.

Why not give yourself this once-in-a-lifetime chance?
