1. AFGHANISTAN
Solidarity and Social Development

The course, started in May 2010, belongs to the activities of cooperation between Università Cattolica and Herat University. It will cover a period of 6 months and it is offered to 30 students. The course is developed in collaboration with ARDI (Afghan Research and Development Institute of Kabul) and it is supported by Regione Lombardia. The proposal of extending the course for the year 2010/2011 had been submitted.

2. AFGHANISTAN
The school of Peace in Tangi Gharo

The project, that is accomplished with the support of both the Afghan Government and the Italian Embassy in Kabul, provides Tangi Karo (Kabul) public school teachers’ with training courses. 50 scholarships in food (flour, rice and oil) are granted to the families who support their daughters at school until they take a diploma.

3. AFGHANISTAN
Women to be

The project provides the realization of both a workshop addressed to women and a magazine online. The workshop, hold by both Italian media professionals and professors from Università Cattolica, is named “Women and journalism: Representation and Professionnalisation of the Afghan women in local and global media”.

Training on Inclusive Education in Kabul

The project provided a training course both for teachers and educators on the psycho-cognitive evaluation of children affected by disabilities and the realization of standard tests for Afghanistan.

5. HAITI
Università Cattolica for minors of Haiti

The Project provides a resilient and effective support to the serious humanitarian emergency caused by the earthquake in a country which has always to face conflicts and poverty. Both the training of local educators on the methodologies of intervention, the instruments aimed at taking care of children and the realization of art laboratories for children are scheduled in the project.

Children with disability in the everyone’s school

Training courses for teachers and educators in order to promote social, motivational and cognitive strategies regarding specifically tutoring of students with disabilities.

7. MOZAMBIQUE
Università Cattolica for Mozambique

The project falls within the agreement signed between UCSC and Universidade Católica de Moçambique on May 2010 and its aim is to support the mobility of both professors and researchers for the academic activities of Beira University. In addition, it provides a support for the realization of laboratories for expressive activities concerning Sustainable Tourism addressed to minors.

Inclusive Education for children with disability in Palestine

The project aims to provide Primary and Pre - school teachers in Palestine with inclusive policy basic competences for teaching children with disabilities.

9. PERU
Overseas Perù & Italia

The project offers to the students, who are going to finish the third year or are at the beginning of the fourth year of the Faculty of Economical Sciences or Education, the opportunity of an internship in Italian companies or educational bodies related to their studying fields.

10. SOUTH AFRICA, SURINAME
Sport as instrument of Social Inclusion (jointly with Clarence Seedorf –AC MILAN’s player) and his Foundation Champions for Children)

The leading aim of this project is the delineation, the realization and the evaluation of the effectiveness of a model of intervention based on the consideration of sport as an instrument of social inclusion. The literature, that considers sport as an instrument to promote social inclusion, will be analysed together with the current practices in South Africa and Suriname.

11. UGANDA
Check of hospital infections

The project intends to improve the control system of the hospital infections, as a strategy to prevent endemic and epidemic infections both of the patients and of the medical staff of the Benedic Medical Centre (Luriza).

12. UGANDA
Health Sciences Building

The project supported the improvement of the training, studying and researching activities of the students enrolled at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Uganda Martyrs University through the construction of a two storeys building (600 square metres) that will house the Department of Health Sciences (4 classrooms assigned to lessons and 1 to seminars).

13. UGANDA
Hope & Hard Work

The project provides a support based on micro credit to the local families in order to give them the chance to develop their own business. Moreover, it reinforces the Wekembe project, started in the Diocese of Kampala, in order to make it stronger and more effective. The activities within the project are: the creation of a local officers group to train and support the families who will receive the credit facilities; the support of local business activities and the improvement of the efficiency through the required infrastructures and the appropriate tools.

Postgraduate Medical Education

The project supports the renovation of a building designed for a medical Master in Nsambya Hospital (Kampala). The school will provide different areas for training and research.

15. BANGLADESH, BRASILE, COSTA D’AVORIO
Mission Exposure

The aim of this proposal is to offer to 13 students from Università Cattolica an experience within a mission. The training and the experience in a mission want both to enrich their academic skills and to provide them a more conscious glance at the world.

16. BRASILE, HONDURAS, INDIA, PANAMA, SRI LANKA, UGANDA
UCSC Charity Work Program 2010

The project, financed by Istituto Toniolo di Studi Superiori and implemented with the support of Ufficio Relazioni Internazionali, provides students with 22 scholarships for a period of 3 weeks (summer 2010). These students live in Università Cattolica boarding schools of Milan, Piacenza, Rome. The students will partecipate to the activities promoted by the hosting institutions in Brazil, Honduras, India, Panama, Sri Lanka and Uganda.
